Want to maximise your AI skills but unsure how? Here’s some good news for Malaysian youth (and future virtual assistants!). The government’s AI Untuk Rakyat programme is giving 100,000 young Malaysians free access to AI training and tools for three whole months.

What This Programme Is About
Announced by the Prime Minister as part of Malaysia’s 2026 National Day initiatives, AI Untuk Rakyat is a free digital learning programme delivered through the new Rakyat Digital portal. It’s designed to help young Malaysians understand AI, use it responsibly, and access real AI tools, completely free of charge.
Who Can Apply
Any Malaysian citizen aged 18 to 30 can apply. The programme rolls out in phases starting 31 August 2026 through to 2027, so there’s no rush, just make sure you register when your phase opens.
How to Qualify for AI Untuk Rakyat
Simply complete six short online modules on Rakyat Digital, covering topics like Generative AI, Cybersafety, AI Safety, and Agentic AI. Pass all six, and you unlock the reward below. The online modules and videos are available in Bahasa Malaysia and in English, with some modules containing Tamil and Chinese language options as well.
How to Redeem Your Free AI Subscription
Once you’ve completed the modules, you’ll receive a free three-month subscription to selected AI tools, including IlmuChat by YTL AI Labs, Wonderclip and MuleRun by Alibaba, and Google’s Gemini Enterprise. Simply register at rakyatdigital.gov.my to get started.
