“Heartworks Changed My Life”: Sharon’s Story
02 Jul 2026 • 5 min read• Fiona Tan
Since 2021, I have been a dialysis patient and jobless. Most jobs require you to be in the office five days a week, full-time, and with my condition, that simply wasn’t possible.
Then in December 2023, I came across an article on Vulcan Post about Heartworks Solution. I was deeply touched by the founder, Fiona’s, story.
Despite her own condition, she built a social enterprise dedicated to helping women in need, especially those living with disabilities or illnesses like mine. Reading about her perseverance gave me something I hadn’t felt in a long time: hope.
I went straight to the Heartworks Solutions website and applied for a Virtual Assistant position. By January 2024, I had started working with them, and I was assigned to two companies that I still proudly work with today.
This role gave me the flexibility to manage my health while still being able to work and support myself. For the first time in years, I didn’t have to choose between my treatment and my income.
I’m endlessly grateful to Fiona for giving me this opportunity, and just as grateful to the bosses of both companies I work with.
They have been understanding and supportive throughout my journey, never once making me feel like my condition was a limitation.
Heartworks Solutions didn’t just give me a job. They gave me my life back. I will always be grateful for the opportunity and trust they have given me.
